Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Knoyo Health

Is it legal to record a conversation with my doctor?

Some states like California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington have specific requirements about recording conversations. As a best practice, we recommend always asking for your healthcare provider's consent before recording, regardless of your location.

We encourage open communication with your healthcare providers about organizing your medical information in a way that works best for your needs. Being transparent about recording can help build trust and improve your healthcare experience.

What would my doctor's attitude be towards being recorded?

We've seen that most doctors agree to be recorded.

In a study, a quarter of the doctors surveyed actually offered recordings to their patients, knowing that it would help improve their health. Some doctors prefer to verbalize a summary of key points discussed at the end of the visit, instead of having the entire conversation recorded.

Doctors always like to hear that their patients want to better remember and organize their healthcare information for the benefit of their health.

What is my data used for?

Your data is primarily used to improve your experience as a patient while using the Knoyo app. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

Is Knoyo HIPAA-Compliant?

Yes. We've built a comprehensive HIPAA-compliant infrastructure that includes robust security measures, administrative controls, and secure cloud storage for protecting your audio recordings and other data.

We maintain Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with enterprise technology partners, including Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, Anthropic, and more, to ensure comprehensive protection of Protected Health Information (PHI). All data processing is conducted through encrypted channels to generate conversation summaries and organize healthcare information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

How accurate are the AI-generated summaries?

Our AI summaries are reviewed by healthcare professionals regularly to ensure accuracy. The system is continuously trained on medical conversations to provide reliable, easy-to-understand summaries.

How many family members can use one account?

Your Knoyo subscription covers your entire family. You can add multiple family members to your account, allowing everyone to access recordings and summaries. This is perfect for families coordinating care across different locations.
